Weekend Box Office Looks Like Ted is Headed for the Donation Bin
LMNOLATed, WTF happened dude?
It was a bad weekend to be a stuffed bear. Not even the return of Seth McFarlane's Boston accent was enough to generate ticket sales for 'Ted 2' in its opening weekend. The film came in third overall at the box office and only pulled in $32.9 million, which is well under the $53 million projected. That hurts even before taking the $85 million production budget into consideration. Ouch.
Apparently people were just not as interested in Mark Wahlberg and a stuffed teddy bear when they could see Chris Pratt and CGI dinosaurs instead. And can you blame them? 'Jurassic World' had another OMG-blowout-weekend at the box office and hit that $500 million mark – and it's only in Week 3.
'Inside Out' is still holding on strong to the number two spot and gaining on the 'Jurassic World' hold at number one. The Pixar film raked in $52.1 million, right behind 'Jurassic World' with $54.2 million.
Here's how the rankings looked:
1. Jurassic World
2. Inside Out
3. Ted 2
4. Max
5. Spy
For those of you wondering, "What the hell is 'Max'?" because we sure were, it's the film about the military service dog adopted by a marine's family after that marine is killed in Afghanistan. Still haven't heard of it? Here:
Yeah, don't all rush to the theaters at once or anything.
