Kirsten Dunst insists Dakota Fanning was a better actor than her
LMNOLAAmidst the hustle and bustle of stardom, it's not uncommon to find celebs putting one another down. After all, it's a dog-eat-dog world out there – especially when roles are so competitive and scarce. It's easy to find a star saying that they're more talented than another, but it's not everyday that you hear it the other way around. In a shocking turn of events, Kirsten Dunst actually threw shade at herself. Perfect timing, too, what with all the Zerrie drams.
"I know some young actresses who are better at it," Kirsten admitted in a Recent "Town and Country" article. The star is more than humble about her beginnings as a childhood actress. Which is refreshing, in a town full of big egos.
She even goes on to list a couple celebs who she reckons actually did a better job than her. None other than Dakota Fanning topped the list. "Dakota Fanning reminds me a lot of myself, but she's wiser than I was at her age."
The star herself may be an easy critic, but she admits that the general public doesn't tend to be as optimistic. "What people expect of an actor is totally ridiculous" she admits. "It's unfair that an artist is expected to speak really well in public and have skin tough enough to withstand sometimes really hurtful criticism, but also, in order to do the job, be really sensitive and in touch with their feelings. So all you can do is be yourself."
So, there you have it. In the words of Kirsten Dunst herself: "just be who the hell you are".
